A Journey of Innovation Across Two Seas
Research on oyster shell water purification, which began in the Chesapeake Bay, USA, became a reality in Tongyeong, Korea, By hands of
a young, passionate entrepreneur. We introduce the journey of BlueLabs: translating nature's principles into technology and connecting local issues to global innovation
In Tongyeong, where countless oysters
are harvested annually, discarded shells accumulate just as fast.
Faced to this local environmental challenge,
one young man began to question
their potential value.
BlueLabs benchmarked research from the Chesapeake Bay, focusing on the principle
that oyster shells naturally adsorb
pollutants in water.
And finally, OysterPuri could come to reality, a new technology that recycles waste to purify water.
This is something more than just product development. Let us present our first story to solve a local problem through technology.

300,000 Tons of Waste Shells
Reborn as Water Filters
very year, approximately 300,000 tons of oyster shells are discarded. This massive amount is enough to fill 20,000 fifteen-ton dump trucks. BlueLabs' OysterPuri revitalizes this discarded resource into new life.
Produced from these shells, OysterPuri purifies 100 million gallons of contaminated water annually and removes over 7 types of heavy metals, returning clean water to nature. Furthermore, it reduces carbon emissions by approximately 97% compared to existing activated carbon manufacturing processes, contributing significantly to global environmental protection.
This innovative circular material creates over 35 billion KRW in social and economic value annually, leading the transition from "waste" to "valuable resource."

A Cleaner Earth, The First Step Toward Safe Water.
Despite high water supply rates, water safety is often threatened by aged infrastructure and heavy metal contamination. BlueLabs leads the innovation in water resource systems to supply clean and healthy water.
We upcycle hundreds of thousands of tons of discarded oyster shells into high-value, eco-friendly water treatment agents.
Through this process, we reduce carbon emissions and environmental pollution, realize a circular economy, and build a sustainable future.
